The Viper-Powered Dodge Tomahawk concept vehicle breaks all barriers of conventional thinking about personal transportation. “Tomahawk is an icon of extreme thinking for a brand that is not only known for the legendary Viper and Ram, but also all new, innovative vehicles like the Magnum SRT-8 and the concepts of Durango.
Dodge Tomahawk is a concept designs of the Chrysler Group as the Viper-powered as much art as it is a new type of vehicle invention. It is both a sculpture that can be controlled, and a bold statement about the enthusiasm of the Chrysler Group culture and passion for design. Dodge Tomahawk concept is a 4-wheeled vehicle for one passenger, a combination of hardware and sculpture art-deco style of extreme engineering.

“Tomahawk moves design concept introductions and the car game concept to a whole new level – as only Dodge and Chrysler Group can.

500-horsepower Viper V-10 engine fitted to the dual rear wheels gives this radical vehicle a potential top speed of nearly 400 miles per hour – for anyone who wants to test it. The Tomahawk roared into public view in the North American International Auto Show.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 (also known as ZZR1400) is a hyper sport motorcycle manufactured by Kawasaki Heavy Industries and is currently their most powerful sport bike. It was introduced at the Tokyo 2005 show and released for the 2006 model year as a replacement for the ZX-12R. Its direct competitor in the hyper sport segment is the Suzuki Hayabusa.

It is capable of accelerating from 0–60 mph in 2.5 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 186 mph (299 km/h). This limit has been in effect on both Kawasaki and Suzuki sport motorcycles since 2001 when both companies realized that the speed war between them would only serve to bring about government regulation. However, the Ninja also has been reported at speeds of 210 mph with its limiter removed.

Yamaha FZ6R is a cheaper version of Yamaha FZ6. FZ6R offers features that make it easy for beginning riders to get started. This bike fits neatly into the entry-level sport bike category.

Price: $6,990 – $7,090

Key Features:

A rider in the market for an entry level or commuter 600cc bike doesn’t have to compromise performance or style to get value: introducing the new 2009 FZ6R! It’s a great combination of performance, handling, and exciting sport bike style, but also with a low seat height that’s both adjustable to fit a wider variety of riders and also narrower where it counts to make it even easier to put both feet on the ground.

The newly designed engine delivers smooth power just the way today’s rider needs it, brisk acceleration with plenty of torque that makes it a pleasure to get around town, with lots in reserve for when you want more. This is certainly not a “no frills” motor. It’s based on the awesome, previous-generation R6 motor, fuel injected and tuned for real world street riding with no-hassle reliability and all-day comfort.

Even if your primary goal is commuting to school or work, you want to be able to get out and have fun riding some twisty back roads. The FZ6R is ready to put a grin on your face! The newly designed diamond-shaped frame made of high-tensile steel pipes, using the engine as a structural member of the chassis, becomes the foundation for handling performance. It’s designed to provide the right rigidity balance to contribute to smooth cornering performance.

When it comes to putting power to the pavement, the new FZ6R uses nothing less than quality radial tires, 120/70R 17-inch front and 160/16R 17-inch rear. And this bike’s excellent stopping performance is due to dual 298mm front discs and a 245mm rear disc, both with comfortable to use controls.

Engine:

With its heritage firmly rooted in the power plant from an earlier generation R6, the engine in the FZ6R has been carefully updated to meet the demands of today’s motorcyclist. This new engine optimizes the entire flow from the intake of the fuel-air mixture to combustion and exhaust. The cylinder head, crankcase, intake and exhaust system, and clutch and shifter have been completely redesigned, creating a power unit with an entirely new character, even though it shares bore and stroke dimensions and compression ratio with the previous FZ6.

The 600cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke in-line 4-cylinder engine is ready to respond with smooth, linear performance when the rider twists the throttle. Maximum output is achieved at a spirited 10,000 rpm and maximum torque is obtained at 9000 rpm. Bottom line: Its outstanding “torquey” low to mid rpm engine performance is just right for someone who enjoys commuting to work or school or riding the canyons on the weekends.

Lightweight forged aluminum pistons are used. Because the aluminum alloy is heated and formed under pressure without having to melt it completely as in conventional casting techniques, the strength of the original metallurgic matrix of the aluminum is maintained. As a result, a forged piston is stronger than a cast one and can thus be designed for lighter weight, which contributes to a reduction in vibration. In fact, many riders will be surprised at how smooth this motor is.

The 32-bit ECU controls the four-hole, two-direction, high-dynamic-range type fuel injectors for superior injection control. By delivering the precise fuel-air mixture needed for conditions, the engine can deliver better power and better fuel economy.

Much like many of today’s high end sport bikes, the FZ6R has a 4-into-2-into-1 midship exhaust. Not only does it provide a throaty, yet comfortably quiet exhaust note, the system also includes 3-way catalytic converter technology to reduce exhaust emissions.

Chassis/Suspension:

With its exciting sport bike looks, onlookers will know this isn’t just another middleweight bike. There’s no mistaking Yamaha’s high-performance heritage in this new FZ6R.

The seat has separate front and rear sections, and the rider’s seat features an innovative height adjustment mechanism. The seat can be set 20mm – just over 3/4 of an inch – higher for taller riders, a change that can make a big difference on an all-day ride

The overall chassis rigidity has been designed to provide both excellent handling and all-day comfort. In order to further enhance the smoothness and comfort of the ride, the front-end dimensions a have been optimized, including a caster angle of 26° and trail of 103.5mm, contributing a bike that has great steering feeling, making the bike even more of a pleasure to ride.

The front suspension has sturdy 41mm inner tubes, matched to a die-cast aluminum upper triple clamp and forged-steel under bracket, providing superior cushioning performance and good front-end feel. Wheel travel is a generous 5.1 inches to help soak up those bumps in the road.

The rear suspension is lightweight and contributes to the centralization of mass, and the mono-cross suspension provides excellent wheel travel, a full 5.1 inches. Superior road hugging performance has been achieved with optimally designed damping-force valves and oil channels.

This bike boasts hydraulic discs front and rear. The 298mm diameter front discs are lightweight for reduced unsprung weight, while the single rear disc is 245mm, and the brakes feature semi-metallic pads. The brakes have been designed to offer great feel and superb braking ability.

FZ6R mounts tubeless radial tires on cast aluminum wheels. While their lightweight construction helps centralize mass, they also help contribute to agile handling.

Additional Features:

The new meter panel gives the rider plenty of feedback, including a digital display speedometer, analog tachometer, odometer/tripmeter, fuel gauge, and water coolant gauge.

Body work has an exterior coating for superior shine.

The Yamaha FZ6 is a 600 cc motorcycle that was introduced in 2004 as a sporting middleweight sport bike built around the 2003 YZF R6 engine. The engine is retuned for more usable midrange power. It comes with a somewhat soft suspension that makes it easy on beginners and very well suited for sport-touring, commuting, or just having fun on curvy mountain roads.

The 2009 model (introduced on September 08, 2008) is technically unchanged from 2008/2007. The available colours for 2009 are Raven and Deep Blue (Metallic Black and Metallic Purplish Blue in Canada / Midnight Black, Ocean depth and Silver Metallic in Europe). European model ‘FZ6 Fazer S2 ABS’ has ABS and electronic immobilizer as standard. It is also 5 kg heavier (Dry Weight 191 kg).

Yamaha also produces a bigger 1000 cc version of this motorcycle called the Yamaha FZ1. There is also an entry level version of this bike which is Yamaha FZ6R.

Price: $7,290

Key Features:

Multipurpose, go-anywhere do-anything middleweight; the FZ6 is just as happy taking you to work, for a brisk sport ride or on a weekend tour.

Style and performance: Controlled-Fill die-cast aluminum frame, a high-tech half fairing and an undertail exhaust are just a few of the FZ6’s upscale components.

Super-light and compact fuel-injected YZF-R6S engine is tuned for enhanced mid-range performance as well as strong revvability.

The FZ6 achieves fuel economy up to an estimated 40 mpg** with a fuel tank that holds 5.1 gallons of gas.

Engine:

600cc liquid-cooled 16-valve DOHC four-cylinder engine with special cams and intake tracts is tuned to produce maximum torque and horsepower at more accessible rpm levels.

Group fuel injection (powerful 32-bit processor and 4-jet bidirectional injectors) combines simplicity with excellent response and performance.

Six-speed gearbox with triangulated input and output shafts, heavy-duty clutch and through-the-frame shifter for years of precise, positive shifting.

Stainless-steel underseat exhaust system with heat shield looks cool and doesn’t interfere with passengers or luggage.

Acoustic analysis of the downdraft intake tract and exhaust produce a bike that sounds as cool as it looks.

Large radiator with ring-type fan for excellent cooling capacity.

Yamaha Air Induction System, along with a metal honeycomb-type catalytic converter, let the FZ6 pass strict EU2 and CARB emissions standards.

Chassis/Suspension:

Strong-and-very-light Controlled-Fill die-cast aluminum frame is made from only two pieces, which bolt together at the steering head and in the swingarm pivot area.

A stylish swingarm complements the bike’s Controlled-Fill frame and adds to its light, precise feel.

Four-piston monoblock brake calipers up front provide excellent braking power and feel.

Five-point stressed-member engine mounting design consists of two crankcase mounts per side and one mount on the left side of the cylinder head for excellent strength and light weight.

Placing the engine’s crankshaft axis close to the FZ6’s roll axis aids quick handling and light, positive steering.

25 degrees of rake, 3.8-inch trail and 56.7-inch wheelbase for quick handling and excellent tracking.

Single-shock linkageless rear suspension is simple and light, with sport-biased damping tuned for a controlled, progressive feel; extruded aluminum swingarm is 23.2 inches long for reduced chain-pull effect, further bolstering the FZ6’s outstanding handling.

Placing the battery under the fuel tank and behind the steering head helps achieve 51 percent front-wheel weight distribution and excellent handling.

Single-piece upper triple clamp/handlebar mount with tubular handlebar for excellent front-end feel, feedback and light steering; 35-degree steering lock means excellent maneuverability in traffic.

43mm, wide-set fork tubes for excellent rigidity and confident braking performance.

Extremely light YZF-R6-type five-spoke wheels keep unsprung weight low for improved suspension action and handling, acceleration and deceleration.

Thick dual seat offers exceptional solo or two-up comfort; passenger grab rails and bungee attachment points.

Additional Features:

Upright, comfortable riding position with great weather protection. Light, effortless handling for urban use, comfortable long-distance cruising, and serious sport riding too.

High-tech instrument display features analog tachometer, digital speedometer, dual trip meter with miles on reserve function, odometer, water temperature and lights for neutral, high beam, low fuel and turn signals—also a fade-in lighting feature with adjustable brightness.

120/70-ZR17 and 180/55-ZR17 radial tires complement the FZ6’s modern look, and its increased torque and great handling fully exploit the superb grip they provide.

Large windscreen provides good protection and minimal noise; anti-reversion panels on each side of the fairing reduce turbulence.

Dual 12V 60/55-watt multireflector headlight gives a sleek, R1-type profile for superb aerodynamics and visibility.

Completely unique, CAD-drawn fuel tank meets the needs of style, handlebar clearance and tactile feel in one beautiful package crafted from high-stretch alloy.

Sporty, taillight design reduces both weight and size while providing excellent visibility.

Passenger pegs are low and made of aluminum for comfort and appearance.

Front fender and alumite-finished outer fork tubes add to the style.

Seat bottom and cover material feel soft but solid and make it easier for shorter legs to reach the ground.

Centerstand for easier maintenance.

Standard toolkit and U-lock storage under the seat.
